We Live in a Line World

The three and four year olds at Charlotte Children’s Center were having a hard time wrapping their head around how to travel in a line from place to place. So, Rheanna and her co-teacher formulated an investigation of the wonder of line in the world. Beginning with two-dimensional art-making and expanding to sculptural exploration in nature, embodiment, and manipulation of everyday materials, the group dove in head first to investigate how lines make up our world. As an exciting culmination, the group viewed and noticed an original artwork by Brooklyn-based artist, Mike Perry. The children created their own neon and line-centric works of art led by their inspirations.
